If I recall correctly, the military wanted a 'lighter' color of the Coyote stuff they were getting. They came up with some military/gov issue spray paint that was more of a tan color., Makes no sense from a practical standpoint in my opinion. I have tan/FDE on my guns because I live in a desert.
