The Battle of the Ardennes, or Battle of the Bulge as it came to be known, was the greatest land battle waged by the US Army during the World War II, generating their heaviest casualties; of approximately 600,000 US troops engaged, nearly 90,000 became casualties, with approximately 9,000 killed.
